What company within the Group do you work for?
Climaveneta Chat Union (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (CCU)

Please introduce CCU to someone who is not familiar with it.

CCU is a joint venture in China built on a partnership between Hong Kong-based Chat Union and Climaveneta that has successfully developed over more than 25 years. Today, through Climaveneta, we are also part of the wider MEHITS and Mitsubishi Electric Group.

We develop, manufacture, sell and service high-efficiency HVAC and IT Cooling solutions for comfort, industrial and data centre applications.

I think one of CCU’s strengths is this combination: deep knowledge of the Chinese market, a long and proven partnership between our shareholders, strong local engineering and manufacturing capabilities, and access to the wider experience and international network of the Group.

Could you describe your role and main responsibilities?

I lead CCU’s IT Cooling business. Together with my team, I am responsible for developing the business, understanding our customers and changing market needs, and turning these needs into successful solutions and projects.

My responsibilities cover sales, technical support, project execution and after-sales service. I also work closely with our internal teams and with colleagues across the Group, particularly as we support our customers on international projects.

What I enjoy most is seeing our team grow together with the business and becoming a trusted partner for our customers.

What is CCU’s core expertise in the applied HVAC and IT Cooling business?

I would say our main strength is our ability to combine technology with a very practical understanding of customer needs.

We have strong expertise in high-efficiency cooling, including oil-free magnetic-bearing technology, free-cooling solutions and customised solutions for demanding applications. But technology alone is not enough. Our strength is also our ability to work closely with customers, respond quickly and support projects from the early design stage through testing, delivery and after-sales service.

Looking ahead, we also see an important opportunity to strengthen technical cooperation within the Group, combining our different experiences and capabilities to develop new solutions for a rapidly changing market.

What are the main technological or market trends currently shaping the development of CCU products?

The data centre market is changing extremely fast, especially with the growth of AI and high-density computing. Cooling requirements are becoming more demanding, and we see increasing interest in liquid cooling, hybrid solutions and modular or prefabricated systems.

At the same time, customers expect high energy efficiency, lower water consumption, high reliability and increasingly fast delivery.

For us, this is an exciting challenge. We need to keep learning, developing new solutions and responding quickly to the market. We also see this as an opportunity to increase technology cooperation across CCU, MEHITS and Mitsubishi Electric, bringing together different experiences and capabilities to respond to these new requirements.

How are customer needs and expectations evolving in the last years?

A few years ago, customers were mainly focused on having a reliable data centre with sufficient capacity. Today their expectations are much broader.

With the rapid development of AI, customers need higher cooling capacity, faster project delivery, flexible expansion and solutions that can support much higher power density. Energy efficiency, water consumption and lifecycle cost are also becoming increasingly important.

Another important change is that customers want us to become involved earlier. They are not only looking for a product supplier. They expect us to understand their challenges and work with them to develop the right solution.

Looking ahead, what do you see as the main opportunities and growth drivers for CCU within the Group?

I am very positive about the opportunities ahead. AI and high-density data centres are creating significant new demand, both in China and internationally. At the same time, customers are looking for more innovative, efficient and customised cooling solutions.

CCU has built a strong position in the Chinese data centre market thanks to the hard work of our team, our close relationships with customers and our ability to respond quickly to a fast-changing market.

International expansion is another important opportunity. Many of our Chinese customers are developing projects outside China, and cooperation with MEHITS and Mitsubishi Electric can help us support them internationally. Today, an important part of this cooperation is project deployment and after-sales support, using the Group’s international presence to provide customers with reliable local support.

Looking ahead, I hope we can take this cooperation further, particularly on the technology side. CCU brings experience from one of the world’s fastest-moving data centre markets, close customer relationships, engineering flexibility and manufacturing capability. By combining these strengths with the technology and international experience available across MEHITS and Mitsubishi Electric, I believe we can develop new solutions and create new opportunities together.

For me, this is the real strength of being part of a Group: we can each bring something different, learn from each other and achieve more together.
