Nutrition for Managers: Recommendations

Nutrition is a key element for performance, both sports and mental. Recently a meeting was held in Alpago with Dr. Laura Gherardini who explained how food is the fuel that fuels our bodies throughout the day. But how can we maintain good health, feel good mentally and tackle our goals without drops in performance?

For those who lead sedentary lives, such as many managers, balancing caloric intake with energy needs is essential. Mental concentration requires specific nutrients that support cognitive functions. In contrast, those who work on the go, such as line workers, require a higher caloric intake to support physical activity. But not all foods are equally useful for the purpose.

Coffee is often used to wake up and improve concentration. However, it is important not to abuse it to avoid negative effects such as anxiety or insomnia. Low blood sugar in mid-afternoon is a common phenomenon due to decreased blood glucose levels. To avoid it, the suggestion is a diet with less sugar to break a vicious cycle of glucose demand.

To lead a healthy life, a balanced diet should be adopted from a young age; this helps to manage stress effectively. Particular nutrients and supplements, in the case of an unbalanced diet, can help manage the biological imbalance generated by stress.
