Are you familiar with Eurovent? Surely you have heard of it in connection with the certifications to which many of our products are subject. But what is it exactly?
Eurovent is a Europe-wide organisation representing the HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration) industry. It directly brings together more than 100 companies in the sector (including MEHITS) and 16 national associations (including the Italian Assoclima and Assocold) that group together many other small and large entities. The organisation has a prestigious history dating back to 1958, when the need was felt to adopt common terminologies and set shared production standards within the newly-born European Economic Community and in a market that was growing significantly in those very years. Since then, the organisation has expanded, developed new skills and established itself as a reference in the European area. At this growth juncture, a sub-unit of Eurovent was also created in 1993, dedicated to the independent certification of the performance of sector products (such as, for example, our chillers).
Eurovent’s mission is to bring together HVACR technology providers to work with policy makers and advisors from the European Commission to create conditions that foster fair competition, innovation and sustainable growth in the industry. Eurovent’s main governing body is a board of around 15 members with a three-year term of office from all corners of Europe, proving that constructive and democratic debate continues to be, as at its foundation, one of its core values.

On 24 May, the 68th Annual Meeting of all members was held in Brussels at which the new Board of Directors was elected. We are proud to announce the reappointment of our Knowledge Manager Mariano Covolo as Italian delegate and spokesperson for the national associations Assoclima and Assocold. Mariano, who closely follows the Product Group Liquid Package Chillers – Heat Pump (abbreviated PG-LCP-HP), says:
“The growing number of people from various companies and associations participating in this Product Group is proof of the awareness of the challenges that the future holds and the opportunities arising from the need for increasingly efficient and environmentally sustainable products on the one hand.”
Supported by the extraordinary experience of the Eurovent staff, we are confident that Mariano will be able to adequately synthesise the voices of the participants in his Group and then transmit them to the European Commission and its advisors. We wish him all the best in continuing his work!
