Last March, Mitsubishi Electric held its first Sustainability Briefing at which Kei Uruma (President & CEO) and Satoshi Takeda (Executive Officer) presented the Group’s vision for sustainability and the initiatives we can take to address this enormous social challenge.
The Group’s goal is to contribute to the realisation of a vibrant and sustainable society through technological innovation and ceaseless creativity.

«We, the Mitsubishi Electric Group, will contribute to the realization of a vibrant and sustainable society through continuous technological innovation and ceaseless creativity.»
The main challenges to achieve a green society are essentially two:
- Carbon neutrality, i.e. the balance between man-made carbon dioxide emissions and their removal through specific offsetting activities. The goal for 2031 is to achieve zero emissions for all production sites and offices.
- The circular economy, i.e. the reuse and recycling of materials and products.
To achieve this, it is becoming increasingly essential to promote the development of high-efficiency energy storage systems, to accelerate the electrification of energy sources so as to move away from fossil fuels, to increase the use of renewable energies and to develop business models based on the recycling of resources.
The Group’s further challenge is to build a safe, inclusive and comfortable society. To achieve this, it is important to focus on preventing environmental disasters, improving transport, using technology to automate production processes and compensate for the lack of skilled labour, and using specific products to improve the comfort of the environment.
All of this is part of the Environmental Sustainability Vision 2050, a declaration through which our entire Group is actively committed to pursuing a wide-ranging sustainable development, following the path laid out by the UN.
MEHITS, as a Group company specialising in applied air conditioning, also carries forward these values in its area of expertise, constantly questioning the past with a view to continuous improvement towards a more sustainable future.
