In the Italian Safety Law (D.Lgs 81/08) there is a chapter reserved for all those who work in front of a monitor the “video terminalist”. This activity can also expose you to risks, mostly of an ergonomic nature. For this reason, the workstations must be designed and then used correctly.
To stay healthy, follow these few rules:
• Raise the chair so that your feet touch the ground and your forearms rest on the desk.
• Report to your manager if the chair is broken and cannot be adjusted.
• plan breaks and stretching throughout the day (get up every two and do other office tasks)
• The distance between your eyes and the monitor should be between 60 and 80 cm
• Adjust the screen height and position it parallel to the window avoiding reflections and glare. If it doesn’t rise enough, place a stack of paper under the stand. Following these guidelines will allow you to avoid visual fatigue, musculoskeletal disorders and reduce fatigue.
