「明けましておめでとうございます」
“Akemashite omedetō gozaimsu”
(transl: “Congratulations on the start of the new year!”)
With this Happy New Year greeting, we introduce our new column dedicated to Japanese culture: JapanLOVERs.
In Japanese, Happy New Year is abbreviated in “akemashite” and is spelled with the Chinese character 明, which has both the meaning of “bright,” but is also used to indicate the beginning of a new period.
A new beginning also brings with it good proposals, and we in addition to the classics (which we know we will not accomplish. Ex: going to the gym), we have decided to inaugurate this column, where with the contribution of our Japanese colleagues, we will share with you pills, news and curiosities from the Rising Sun.
This initiative was created not only with the aim of covering topics related to a culture that has become part of our daily experience, but also aims to strengthen the bond between us colleagues as members of the Mitsubishi Electric group.
We also anticipate that there will be various cultural themed initiatives organized by the “HR needs you” group. So stay tuned to the blog! To begin with, we ask you to express via the form found below which areas you would like to learn more about:
