What is the main purpose of your work?
Mainly, to facilitate contacts between the Company and Customs to facilitate exports outside the EU. I also organize customs visits, to ensure that they are quick and quiet. I draw up, order, and retrieve, when necessary, all documents relating to exports, both intra-EU and extra-EU, and check duties and excise duties of imports of certain product categories.
Which of your activities do you like to do the most? And the least?
I like being in contact with different people every day, even if I would like to speak a little less Italian and more foreign languages.
What does a typical working day look like?
I download e-mails, check customs bills, and exit visas, prepare documentation and what is needed for export. I hope our customs bills are not drawn for visits, but if it happens, I organize them as quickly as possible.
What is the biggest work challenge you’ve faced so far?
Managing the various customs officials to square their requests with our needs, not least in terms of company policy, especially given the very often tight schedules available.
