As of July 25, 2026, Simone Astore, an ICT Technical Specialist at the Bassano del Grappa office, can boast a special title: Vovinam World Champion in the 70–75 kg weight class, a title he won in Paris during the 2026 World Championship. Vovinam is a Vietnamese martial art known for the spectacular and acrobatic nature of its techniques, which combine agility, coordination, and body control.

Simone’s passion for this sport began at a very young age: he started training when he was just four years old, and since then he has never stopped pushing himself. Years of training, competitions, and sacrifices have led him to achieve the most prestigious milestone of his athletic career, proving how perseverance and determination can make all the difference.
Among the many emotions he has experienced along the way, one will remain indelible forever: hearing the Italian national anthem play during the medal ceremony. It’s a moment Simone describes as the most moving of his competitive career—the perfect culmination of a long journey marked by dedication and passion.
For Simone, however, Vovinam is more than just a sport. It’s a school of life that has instilled in him fundamental values such as discipline and respect—principles he carries with him every day, even at work. The ability to tackle challenges with method, perseverance, and a positive attitude is, in fact, a lesson that extends far beyond the gym.
And, despite having just won the world title, his sights are already set on the future. His next goal is the European Championship in two years—a new challenge he’ll prepare for with the same dedication he’s had since he was a child.
Congratulations, Simone, on this extraordinary achievement: the entire MEHITS team is rooting for you and your next milestones! 🥳
